Ever wanted to add contacts to WhatsApp but didn’t know how to go about it?
In this guide I’ll show you how to add contacts to WhatsApp easily.
This may seem like an easy thing to do but it can be quite confusing at times especially with every new update to the WhatsApp app for Android and iPhone.
The good news is that your contact book is automatically integrated with WhatsApp on Android and iPhones.
So when a contact is on WhatsApp it will automatically show up in the WhatsApp app.
However, you can also directly add contacts to WhatsApp easily.
How to Add Contacts to WhatsApp on Android.
You may have just received a business card from a potential client and would like to immediately engage with them on WhatsApp to finalize a business transaction.

So how do you add a contact in WhatsApp on Android?
To do this, simply open the WhatsApp app for Android on your phone and go to the “Chats” section and tap on the “New Message” button in the bottom right corner.
For those using modified versions of the WhatsApp App for Android such as GBWhatsApp, simply tap the Addition symbol denoted “+” on the bottom right corner.
The “New Message button will appear in the bottom right corner and you can now tap on it.
Select the “New Contact” option
From here you can now fill in the contact credentials such as name, home number, email address and company information in all the fields provided.
You can also select your preferred storage option such as phone memory, google account or network sim card.
The details may vary a little depending on the kind of Android phone you are using but it is pretty much the same across all Android devices.
After entering all the required information you can then select the “save option” to add your new contact to WhatsApp.
How to Add Contacts to WhatsApp using Contact Cards.
In some cases you may want to add new contacts to WhatsApp easily using a contact card.
- To do this, simply select the “Add Contact “button from the contact card.
You will then be prompted by WhatsApp to choose whether you want to add it to an existing contact or to create a new one.
You can select an option based on your preference but I think it’s better if you choose the new contact.
- Select “New Option”

The default screen for adding a new contact will be shown with all the required fields already filled for you.
- Simply tap the “Save” button to add the contact to your phone book.
How to Add Contacts to WhatsApp on iPhone.
Here the process for adding contacts to WhatsApp on iPhone will differ slightly.
Simply open the WhatsApp app for iPhone, select the “Chats” section and click the “New Message” button from the top right corner.
Then select the “New Contact” option
From here you can now enter the contact details such as the individual’s name, email address, contact number and company details.
You will also be informed by WhatsApp if the number is registered on WhatsApp or not.
You can now tap the “Save” button to add the contact to WhatsApp on iPhone.
Done! Your contact has now been saved to the contact book on your iPhone.
You can now go ahead and finish that business deal with your client on your iPhone.

In gbwhatsapp, a lot of improvements happened. Now, people can share larger files with their friends.
